The votes have been cast, counted, tallied and tabulated. So before any appeals or demands for a recount come in, we’d like to declare the winners.
Anish Giri and Spanish Champion David Anton are the chess heroes chess24 members have chosen to play in the next event on the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour.
The pair won the Premium vote and will lock horns in the 16-player tournament, stage four of the Tour, when it gets underway on March 13.
David Antón said: “Thank you very much to all of you who contribute so that I can play these tournaments, I will try to do my best as always.”
Anish Giri, the Netherlands number 1, added: “Thank you. Happy to see the fans’ support and glad they have good taste when it comes to chess players.”

He stands ninth on the overall leaderboard, just outside automatic qualification, having picked up 9 Tour points and earned $15,000.
Anton appeared in the Skilling Open when he was knocked out in the prelim stage and then again in the Airthings Masters. The 25-year-old has picked up $9,000 in prize money.
Anton and Giri will be joined by the top eight in the overall tour standings after the Opera Euro Rapid. These include Wesley So, Teimour Radjabov and World Champion Magnus Carlsen.
A further six names will be added through a mixture of qualifying tournaments and wildcards awarded by chess24. More details will be announced soon.
